Family-run, on Highway 10 since long before the chains arrived
The DL is an independent hotel — 56 rooms and suites across two buildings, two floors, renovated in 2015. It sits right on Highway 10, half a mile east of downtown Detroit Lakes, which means you are five minutes from a restaurant and fifteen minutes on foot from the water without ever getting back in the car.
It is built for the two kinds of guest who actually come to lakes country: families with a car full of towels, and people working their way across northern Minnesota who want a hot breakfast and a door that opens at 2am. Both get the same thing — a real breakfast in the morning, a pool with a waterslide for the afternoon, and a front desk that is genuinely staffed all night.
